BB18 Recap "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead"

Welcome to a new recap of Big Brother! It’s an exciting time in the Big Brother house since mostly everyone is out to play now (except for James). However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the eviction episodes aren’t still mostly filler. I’d still rate it as an enjoyable episode based on Michelle’s exploits and the overall likability of Victor and Paul, but it could’ve been better.

We start the episode off with the aftermath of the veto meeting. Not much to see here, so immediately the episode shifts to focus on Corey’s care package (not in a euphemism way, like Nicole wants). Corey has to decide who to give the 5K bribe to and for what. James, in a stupid move, offers to throw the next HOH in an attempt to get the 5K. He might be acting more desperate for this money than he acts to get Natalie to hold his hand. Either way, it clues Corey in to how shady James is being. Why would he be comfortable enough to offer to throw an HOH? Basically, James was advertising how he felt like he’d be safe no matter what, and that’s not something to advertise in the Big Brother house. Therefore, Corey instead uses the care package to bribe Victor to vote out Michelle. A move Victor was going to do anyway. I find this to be the best way they could have used the care package. They already know they are going to be able to do whatever they want, so why not use it as a tool to solidify a new alliance with a guy who has proven to be loyal. Victor is so loyal, he’s been evicted twice based off of his allies that he was loyal to.
Quick note: Corey and Nicole are getting over paranoid. Apparently Victor couldn’t go say hi to Michelle in the bathroom without them getting worried. Seriously? You can’t talk to other people without it being an alliance? Rant over.

So, the live eviction part starts. Normally, I only say who was evicted, but nothing else of note happened. Therefore, let’s talk about the family messages. Each house guest was able to see a video from their family. Victor and Paul immediately endear themselves to me by showing how much they care about their families through their emotions. Say what you want about annoying personalities, but these two genuinely seem to have hearts of gold. They reacted more than James did upon seeing his daughter. Which immediately makes me suspect James is more of a deadbeat than a doting dad. (I promise I’m not basing this solely off of not crying, he doesn’t talk about his daughter at all in the house and that’s suspicious.)
The main surprise of the episode is that Michelle DID NOT cry when seeing her family. She just said it was awkward. That’s my thoughts about watching you all season Michelle. The non-surprise of the episode is that it comes down to a tie, and Nicole evicts Michelle. Michelle immediately goes into a tirade about how the houseguests should go after Nicole. This further proves my point from last blog about why Michelle was the best move for Nicole’s game. This girl was gunning for her regardless of what she said in her eviction speech or if Nicole saved her. So to all of you who still see evicting Michelle as a mistake for Nicole, I have a big bridge to sell you. You are going to love it.

The episode ends with the start of the next HOH competition and I’m hoping someone not named James or Natalie wins.

With that being said, worst player of the episode is

James. He is a flat out idiot for not investigating or checking things all week. Nicole is an emotional enough player that him being around her could have gotten her to feel so guilty that she’d change her mind. Or at the very least, he might have been able to pick up on things not being right. Either way, he screwed up this week for him and Natalie, and now they will both suffer.

                                                  Best Player of the Episode
Nicole. She absolutely made the right move this week. No doubt about it. And she has cemented herself into a strong alliance where no matter what, she will make it far.

And in a new segment, since I’m sure at least someone is curious.

                                                         My Favorite Player
Victor. I don’t say this from a “I want him to win” standpoint, but he is genuinely my favorite person to watch. I think he comes off as a genuine and really awesome person. And I thought I’d add this segment into the blog to just add a note of  positivity to each recap.
